Is 1 foot exactly 0.3048 metres? Yes, for the international foot used here. Why is my result longer when I choose centimetres? Centimetres are smaller units, so the same physical length needs more of them. Are miles and nautical miles interchangeable? No. They have different definitions and uses. Can I convert a negative length? The arithmetic can represent a signed value, but a physical distance is usually recorded as positive. Why do I see many decimal places?
